Your feet will be happy to see me.

I have been a Registered Nurse for 15 years. My background and experience largely includes acute medicine mainly in a Rural Emergency Department as well as over 22 years in Long Term Care Settings in all different capacity from PSW to Director of Care.

Recently I embarked on a new path to fulfill my passion for wound care and received my Designation as a Nurse Specialist for Wound, Ostomy and Continence. During this journey of becoming an NSWOC, it was realized how important foot care and foot health was for not only care but prevention. And there started my journey as an Advanced Foot Care Nurse.

Common Pathologies

Corns are thick, hard areas of skin on the feet. Similar to calluses, they are usually smaller, harder and more painful. The body develops corns to protect against constant rubbing and friction. They most often appear at pressure points on the sides and tops of the feet.  In some people, corns are asymptomatic but in others, they can range from mildly uncomfortable to extremely painful.

corns

Rarely painful, calluses tend to develop on pressure spots, such as the heels, the balls of the feet, the palms and the knees. They may vary in size and shape and are often larger than corns.

calluses

Dystrophic nails are fingernails or toenails that are deformed, thickened or discolored. They can have various causes, ranging from toenail fungus to a skin condition.

fungal infections

Nail fungus is a common infection of the nail. Fungal nail infections may cause nails to become discoloured, thick, fragile, or cracked. The nail may also become separated from the nail bed. Small cracks in your nail or the surrounding skin can allow these germs to enter your nail and cause an infection.

Barefeet

soft tissue pathologies

The sight of a lump on your foot can be alarming. It might be reassuring to know that only one in a thousand cases of soft tissue masses of the foot are actually malignant. Nevertheless, these are conditions that should be promptly examined in a timely manner. The most common soft tissue pathologies are cysts or plantar fibromas. Don’t ignore a painful lump on your foot.

Arranged for my mom to have footcare, she could hardly walk. Between her overgrown, thick, nails and her gross layer of old skin I didn't have much hope for her. Soleful Solutions did the trick and got her fixed up good as new. Thanks Tash & Soleful Solutions! You are a lifesaver!
